Tonya Poindexter is the Board Chair of the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce (NVBCC), leading efforts to expand economic opportunities, strengthen strategic partnerships, and ensure that Black businesses in Northern Virginia have the resources to grow and compete. With a deep commitment to business development, advocacy, and community empowerment, she is dedicated to making NVBCC a driving force for Black entrepreneurs and professionals.
In addition to her leadership at NVBCC, Tonya is a minority business owner and the Founder and CEO of The Write Touch LLC, a SWaM-certified strategic communications and grant writing firm. Through her company, she helps businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies secure funding, develop impactful messaging, and create sustainable growth strategies. A certified grant writer, she has successfully supported numerous organizations in securing funding and implementing programs that benefit underserved communities.
Tonya also serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Virginia Minority Chambers, Inc. (VAMC), where she oversees advocacy efforts for minority chambers of commerce, statewide programs focused on workforce development, and minority business readiness.
Her professional background includes an extensive tenure with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), where she managed high-profile programs, led strategic initiatives, and developed operational efficiencies that enhanced national security efforts. Her experience in policy development, program management, and leadership has shaped her ability to drive impactful change across sectors.
Tonya’s leadership is deeply influenced by her commitment to service, economic empowerment, and structured, strategic growth. Whether through her role at NVBCC, her business, or her advocacy work, she is focused on creating opportunities, fostering meaningful collaborations, and ensuring that Black businesses in Northern Virginia have the tools to flourish.
